词汇表中选取了100个单词，参考英文版的 Merriam-Websters Dictionary For Children、SCHOLASTIC Childrens Dictionary、MACMILLAN DiICTIONARY FOR CHILDREN 

等词典，整理了这100个单词的历史注解，并邀请了帅哥Tim录了音频，以便帮助学生边听英语边练听说，同学们理解了单词的历史渊源，就能够进一步理解和掌握单词的用法，英英解释单词定义和历史渊源是激发学生学习英语的兴趣途径之一。

First, listen to the definition of academy. It means "a school where a special subject can be studied”.

Second, listen to the history of academy. Academy comes from the name of a famous school thousands of years ago in Greece. The school was led by Plato, one of the great thinkers of that time.

      There is another edition, which comes fromMerriam-Websters Dictionary FOR Children.In this dictionary, "academy” means "a high school or college where special subjects are taught”.

As to the history of academy, in ancient Greece, a philosopher named Plato started a school at a public exercise field. The field and nearby groves ( a small group of trees) of trees were named for a hero of Greek legend. The English word academy came from the name of the hero for whom Platos school was named.
