本文结合西方学校的数学学科，给国内准备出国留学的中小学生提出一点建议，强化英文数学的训练，将数学变成一门优势学科，以此突破，奠定未来更好的求学之路。

 

    在中国家长的印象中，西方学校教的数学简直天天在搞1+1=2，有些小儿科1-8年级的数学，对中国孩子来说, 不考虑语言因素的话，确实有些偏简单, 尤其是在中国读了几年书的孩子可是到了高中阶段，可能我们要重新考虑一下这一问题，整体来看，亚洲学生数学偏强，但还是有些中国学生数学跛腿！我一直留心女儿在加拿大高中整个阶段的数学教材，以及后来选修的AP微积分、AP统计, 感觉真要学好，未必真那么简单。

为了更好地学习数学，每学期我和孩子都特意从网上买来所用的教材，而没有从学校图书馆借用这样她可以自由在书上凃写、随意笔记西方教材都很贵，二手书一般也要几百元人民币，但孩子有了自己的书，使用起来会更方便，便于学习。

    相比国内数学大量刷题, 西方学校里孩子们花在数学上的学习时间要少很多一是他们按学年选课, 而不是按每学期必选 比如数学12, 如果12年级上学期修完了, 下学期就不用学了, 也就是说，学生只用一个学期就可以修完一个年级的数学，学习课时明显比国内少。

另外课外作业也少很多, 老师所给的作业大多注重思维训练，以及数学在生活中的应用, 不搞难题攻略老师一般结合现实生活中的问题进行训练, 而不是单纯为了解题而学数学...另外他们善用各种数学模型和工具，而不完全靠死记硬背，考试时公式是给定的，计算器是可以带入考场的。

    对于准备留学西方的中国学生来讲，应该争取把数学搞成一门优势学科数学搞好了, 能带动其他偏理工的课程, 如物理、化学、生物、信息技术等数学是理工专业的基础学科和工具，为了以后好找工作，现在很多孩子报考大学时偏向选择理工医类专业。

这样选择的话，数学就更重要了！否则即便上了大学，将来完成学业也还是个问题

Holybird与天津人民出版共同出版全英文版，1-8册    孩子国内数学不太突出，并不可怕，到了国外仍有提升余地本人的小女儿四年高中的经历，真实验证了这点当她在燕东园的北大附小上小学时，社会上已经开始风行奥数，中关村周边布满了各种补习班，但我个人极力反对这么小的孩子就搞什么课外班，一直坚持不给报班。

当时班里估计半数以上的孩子搞了奥数，这样自己的孩子上课跟起来就会有点吃力好在北大附小的教育风格很宽松自由，正如校门口大石头上刻写的冰心老人的题词：“专心地学习，痛快地游玩”整个小学段，孩子就这么快乐地游玩过来了。

最为难她的科目便是数学，大多情况下是“达标”和“及格”，有时还弄个"未达标"的作业检测回家, 最怕的是那些绕坏脑子的文字题不过那时我基本算是冷静处理, 顺其自然...    后来上了人大附中初中，孩子的数学学习一下子改观，似乎一下子开窍了。

其中起关键作用的是教了她三年的数学老师“胡先生”这是位教学经验非常丰富的年长的老师, 当时好像过几年便要退休孩子称他为“男神”，敬佩得五体投地胡老师也格外和蔼可亲，全心精于教学，鼓励孩子们随时提问求解在学校里, 孩子一有问题，便约上同学去找他，有时还跟他聊点闲话, 这样一学期下来，孩子的数学成绩便上来了，以后一直保持进步，完全没有成为掉腿儿的科目。

很多家长总是找各种方法到课外找“名师”，却忽略了孩子周围最合适的老师与其花很多钱补课，不如跟老师和孩子好好沟通，让孩子做到一有问题就找老师，这样一点一点地排除学习上的“拦路虎”数学和英语一样，前后基础衔接比较明显，前面的内容学好了，后面则越学越带劲，也越容易了；反之，学生就学不下去了。

切莫累积到“病入膏肓”之时再找猛药, 那时基本没效...!    孩子9年级毕业后随家人到了加拿大, 正好进入高中阶段, 按年龄又分到了9年级（高中起始年级），这样正好可以读完整个高中学段第一学期，数学一下子便成了优势。

英语肯定很难超过本地孩子，但也一直A等,没落下数学好了，便带动了科学等科目，到了12年级，又细分出物理、化学、生物等孩子应对这些，一切似乎顺当自然了一直保持全A的成绩和4.0的绩点, 申请一个稍理想的大学就不是太难的事儿了，这样看来, 国外高中升大学的压力相比国内就小了不少, 不必过那个独木桥。

再说国外大学进比出容易，不好好学，大学不会那么轻松毕业，这样似乎也合情合理从孩子整个高中的学习过程来看, 数学是个催化剂, 从以前的劣势变成了优势学科, 同时激发了她对整个学习的兴趣和动力, 尤其是当她给12年级数学老师去当助教(TA)，当老师和同学们称她为“科学天才”时，自然增加了学习的信心，以及融入集体的良好氛围。

整个高中的受教育过程便不那么困苦，尽管也很紧张，有时自己也要学习到深夜，但真正学有所乐    对于准备留学的孩子，数学好似一个省力的杠杆，弄好了，对未来的整个学习过程大有帮助因此出国前在学好语言的基础上，适当用英文增加一些数学训练，这对未来的学习之路有很大帮助。
