在学生生涯中,孩子们要写几百篇文章,主题从历史到文学,再到国际问题。他们每年还需要在同学面前发表一系列演讲。

在这些任务中,孩子们往往要提出论据,来支持他们的想法或观点有时,这些论据都是一些陈词滥调,或是从别处拼拼凑凑这些论据年复一年地被反复引用,这就使得读者或观众在听到时,几乎没有什么“感同身受”可言然而,其实孩子们可以有一种方式,来让观众听到一些新鲜独特的论据——

趣闻轶事Anecdotes。

轶事可以是一个短篇故事,通常是来自于个人的故事,可以帮助支撑主要观点,或用来表明自己的想法这类的故事有时幽默,或许也会悲伤,甚至可能发人深省,但有一点是肯定的:趣闻轶事会让一篇文章或者一次演讲,更加有说服力,更加令人难忘。

学生可以使用下面几种不同类型的轶事来提高写作水平:① 幽默型如果孩子正在写的是演讲稿,那就没有比让观众发笑更好的破冰方法了讲一个有趣的轶事不失为一个好主意,它们也是为一篇文章增加娱乐价值的杰出方式例如,如果孩子正以“学校应该教授烹饪课程”为题发表演讲或写文章,那么就可以添加一个幽默的轶事来吸引和娱乐读者:

我们在学校里学习做饭非常重要!没有我的奶奶,我们家人可能就会挨饿,这是因为我妈妈从未在学校里学过如何做饭,这就导致了她现在除了烧开水,什么都不会了我想确保我长大后,能给家人做健康美味的食物,在学校学习烹饪,就是将来开始掌握这些技能的一个好方法。

正如你所看到的,这个短篇轶事就提供了支持主要观点的“幽默”论据② 回忆型个人论文往往要求学生去反思过去,有哪件事情给他们的人生上了宝贵的一课,或者代表了他们人生中的关键里程碑绝大多数大学都会要求学生在申请过程中提供个人论文,也。

我的寄宿家庭规定我在家必须说阿拉伯语,不是为了满足他们对我的期望,而是在帮助我实现对自己的要求如出一辙的是,我的父母在我小时候给我施加的压力,也是处于对我的爱和希望,而不是为了粉碎我的个性。”

回忆型轶事也常常出现在文学作品中,作家们用它来揭露人物的过去,这可以帮助读者更好地理解角色,以及这些角色在特定情况下,采取特定行为的原因学生当然也可以在自己的创造性叙事作业中,采用这种技巧警示型作为父母,我们常常会用警示性的故事来说服或教育我们的孩子,比如:“。

还记得那谁吗?他们小时候没有好好读书,现在只能在厂里上班,过得很不顺!”又或者“我年轻的时候交友不慎,如果交到更好的朋友,我读书肯定也会更好”这些小故事往往被用来说明:前车之鉴,后车之师警示型的故事会起到警示作用,可以在文章中用作强有力的说服性论据。

如果孩子正在写一篇“关于为什么学校里应该禁止使用手机”的说服性文章,那就可以转述一些警示性轶事,来突出“在学校使用手机”这件事的潜在危险这个故事最好是关于他们个人的,或者是他们认识的人身上发生的故事,越具体越好。

手机是生活中必不可少的一部分,但我认为应该禁止在课堂上使用手机我曾经有一个很好的朋友,但她在群聊当中受到了霸凌,大人们都不知道发生了什么事情她会在上课的时候刷群聊,里面的内容让她感到很难受她也时时刻刻想着这件事,导致根本不能专注于学业。

久而久之,她的成绩也越来越差,她也越发伤心如果一开始学校里就不允许使用手机,那么也许这一切都不会发生警示性的轶事可以非常感人,只要它们是真实的、是良性发展的,且和主题明确相关的就好励志型当在写一篇鼓舞人心或极具说服力的演讲稿或文章时,励志的故事会更加有效。

当我们情绪低落,或是面对似乎无法克服的挑战时,励志故事往往是可以给我们提供希望的“灯塔”。

当我们分享一个自己的励志故事,或者一个名人的生活轶事时,我们的观众就很有可能被打动和观众建立联系最有意义的方式,也许就是和他们的情绪共鸣比如一个学生在撰写以“毅力”为主题的文章或演讲时,激励人心的故事会让它更有说服力。

我第一次试着扮演主角,但没有成功,取而代之的是“公园里跑过的小男孩”我问导演,下一次我能做些什么,来寻求更好的机会导演说,他很乐意给我一些建议,我也接受了这些建议并勤加练习,希望我也能成为这部剧的明星演员。

下次试镜时,我还是尝试了去争取主演的位置,但仍然没有成功但这次我并非扮演一个龙套,而是一个有角色的台词!虽然只有几句话,但对我也是莫大的鼓舞我继续努力,模仿我最喜欢的演员,额外花时间上表演课当下次海选来临时,我再次尝试了担任主角,这次的结果是,我成为了配角。

虽然不是主演,但我仍为自己感到骄傲,因为我已经从“小男孩”开始有了很大的进步,我也知道我将来会有更多的机会永不放弃,让我有机会证明,自己能做什么,我知道我才刚刚开始!通常情况下,学生会避开把自己的人生经历作为鼓舞人心的故事,但它们确实是一些最让人难忘的轶事!寻找名人和成功人士的故事,当然也是一个不错的素材来源,但我们也可以在自己和身边的人身上,获取更多的灵感。

In their school lives, students will write hundreds of essays on topics ranging from history, to literature, to world issues and more. They will also be asked to present a range of speeches to their classmates from year to year.

In these tasks, students are often required to present evidence as a way to support their ideas and opinions. Sometimes the evidence is trite and unoriginal. It’s evidence that is cited again and again by students year after year, so that when the audience reads or hears it, it has little impact.

There is however, a way for students to present fresh and unique evidence that the audience has not likely heard, and that is in the form of anecdotes. An anecdote is a short story, usually a personal one, that helps to support a main idea or make a point. They are sometimes humorous, perhaps sad, maybe even thought provoking. One thing for certain is that anecdotes make an essay or speech more memorable and compelling.

Types of AnecdotesThere are a few different types of anecdotes students can use to enhance their writing.

Humorous Anecdote:If a student is writing a speech, there is no better way to break the ice than to make an audience laugh. A great way to do that is with a funny anecdote. They are also an outstanding way to add entertainment value to an essay.

As an example, if a student is presenting a speech or writing an essay on the topic, “Cooking should be taught in schools,” then a humorous anecdote could be added to engage and entertain the reader.

“It is essential that we are taught cooking in school. If it weren’t for my grandmother, my family might starve! My mother wasn’t taught how to cook in school, and now, she cannot do anything except boil water! I want to be sure to be able to cook healthy and delicious food for my family when I am older, and learning in school is a great way to start learning those skills for the future.”

As you can see, this short anecdote provides humorous evidence that supports the student’s main point.

Reminiscent Anecdote:Personal essays often require students to reflect on an important event from their past that taught them a valuable lesson in life, or something that illustrates a pivotal moment they had.

Most universities require personal essays as part of the application process to provide students with the opportunity to show who they are beyond their report cards and lists of completed activities. Well crafted reminiscent anecdotes offer readers a window into the writer’s past and a way to connect with him or her on a deeper level.

Below is an excerpt of a reminiscent anecdote from an excellent student university application essay.

“I lived with a host family in Marrakesh and learned that they, too, had high expectations for me. I didn’t know a word of Arabic, and although my host parents and one brother spoke good English, they knew I was there to learn. If I messed up, they patiently corrected me but refused to let me fall into the easy pattern of speaking English just as I did at home. Just as I had when I was younger, I felt pressured and stressed about meeting their expectations. However, one day, as I strolled through the bustling market square after successfully bargaining with one of the street vendors, I realized my mistake. My host family wasn’t being unfair by making me fumble through Arabic. I had applied for this trip, and I had committed to the intensive language study. My host family’s rules about speaking Arabic at home had not been to fulfill their expectations for me, but to help me fulfill my expectations for myself. Similarly, the pressure my parents had put on me as a child had come out of love and their hopes for me, not out of a desire to crush my individuality.”

Reminiscent anecdotes are also often found in literature, used by writers as a way to expose things about a character’s past. This helps the reader better understand characters, and the reason they are  in a certain situation, or behave in a certain way. Students can also use this technique in their own creative narrative tasks.

Cautionary Anecdote:As parents, we are constantly trying to persuade or educate our children using cautionary anecdotes. We might say things like, “Remember so-and-so? They did not take their studies seriously and now have a terrible life working in a factory!” or “When I was young, I made poor decisions when it came to choosing friends. If I had surrounded myself with a better group of friends, I might have ended up doing a lot better in school.” These small stories are used as a way to show the receiver that our message comes from learning important lessons through experience.

Cautionary anecdotes serve to give a warning, and can be used as persuasive evidence in essays.If a student is  writing a persuasive essay about why mobile phones should be banned from being used at school, he or she could relay any number of cautionary anecdotes to highlight the potential dangers of students having mobile phones at school. The anecdote could be about them personally, or even someone they know. The more specific, the better.

“Mobile phones are an essential part of life, but I believe they should be banned from the classroom. I once had a very good friend who was being bullied in a chat group. None of the adults knew what was happening to her. She would scroll through the group during class, and what she saw upset her so much. It was all she could think about, and she could not focus on her school work at all. Over time, her grades began to slip, and she became very sad. If she wasn’t allowed to have the phone in class in the first place, maybe this never would have happened.”

Cautionary anecdotes can be very moving as long as they are truthful, well developed, and clearly relate to the topic.

Inspirational Anecdote:An inspirational anecdote can be highly effective when writing an inspirational or persuasive speech or essay. Inspirational stories in general can offer us a beacon of hope when we are feeling down or facing what seems like an insurmountable challenge. When we share an inspirational anecdote of our own, or one from the life of a well known figure, our audience will likely be moved. When we can connect with an audience in a way that stirs their emotions, we connect with them in one of the most meaningful ways possible.

If a student is writing an essay or presenting a speech with the theme of perseverance, an inspirational anecdote can help make it even more convincing.

“The first time I tried out for the lead part in the play, I didn’t get it. Instead I got “little boy running at the park”. I asked the director what I could do to have a better chance next time, and he gladly gave me a bit of advice. I took it and I practiced, hoping next time I could be the star of the show. The next time auditions came, I tried out for the lead once again. Once again, I didn’t get it. This time, instead of a background role, I was given a role with lines! Although it was only a few lines, it was enough to motivate me. I continued to work at it, to study my favorite actors, to spend extra time in acting classes, and when the next auditions came, I tried out for the lead once again. This time, I was cast to play a big supporting role. Although it wasn’t the lead, I was still proud of myself. I have come a long way from the “little boy running at the park” and I know there will be many more opportunities for me in the future. Not giving up gave me the chance to prove to myself what I can do, and I know I am just getting started!”

Oftentimes, students will avoid using their own life experiences as inspirational anecdotes, but they can be some of the most memorable ones! Looking to famous and successful people can of course be a great source of inspiration, but we can also find so much inspiration within ourselves and within each other.

As we can see, anecdotes offer a new and exciting way for students to add a different type of evidence to their essays and speeches. Encourage your child to experiment with using anecdotes in their writing and see how it improves their results!
